Types of LLDPE Resins

LLDPE Resins are commonly used in packaging films. These films are usually transparent or white and are produced in a variety of formulations. They vary in transparency, tear strength, formability, and printability. Because of their low cost, LDPE is a popular choice for many packaging applications. For example, it is a popular choice for living hinge applications and is often used in food packaging.


The ExxonMobil(tm) LL 1001AV is an ethylene 1-butene linear low-density polyethylene resin with good drawdown, puncture and gloss properties. It is often used in blends with other LDPE resins. The take-up ratio greatly affects the surface properties of the blended resin.

There are several trade names for this material. The ExxonMobil Chemical Company and Dow Chemical Company offer a wide range of LDPEs under their respective brand names. They may have a melt mass flow rate ranging from 0.2 to 100 g/cm3.


The INDORAMA 010FS LLD PE Resin is a butene co-monomer-based linear low density polyethylene copolymer. This high-molecular-weight, low-friction polymer exhibits high stiffness, excellent impact properties, minimal warpage, and minimal slip. It is a suitable choice for extrusion coating applications, including paperboard coating and flexible packaging. In addition, it exhibits good processibility and processing stability, and is UV-stabilised.

LDPE is a polymer with a density of 0.8 to 915 g/cm3. It has a low initiation, high modulus, and low blocking tendencies, making it suitable for use in food packaging films. It also exhibits good impact and flex crack resistance, making it an excellent choice for applications requiring high sealing performance.


Polyethylene films exhibit strong relationships between crystal orientation and mechanical properties. 2D scattering X-ray spectroscopy (SAXS) can evaluate crystal orientation by evaluating the azimuthal intensity profile of scattering maxima. Using the Elmendorf tear strength as a comparison, it is essential to understand how different LLDPE resins affect MD tear strength.

Crystal orientation plays an important role in shrinkage behavior at elevated temperatures. The higher the crystal orientation, the greater the shrinkage at elevated temperatures. Different co-monomers can also affect the shrinkage behavior. The blown film process produces more crystals with lower melting points.


118NJ LLDPE Resin from SABIC is a butene linear low density polyethylene resin. It exhibits good tensile strength and puncture resistance and is suitable for general-purpose packaging. Its film is clear and thin-gauge and has good hot tack properties. It is a TNPP-free resin. It is also a good choice for co-extrusion.
